My Ride: 525i M Sport Touring (E61): Mystic Blue with Beige Leather and Light Poplar Wood Trim | M Sport Package: Anthracite Headlining, Dechroming, 18" M Spoke Alloy Wheels (135) & RFT's, M Sport Steering Wheel, Sports Seats, M Door Entry Sill Trims, M Sport Suspension Settings, M Aero Bodykit I | Pro NAV | Bluetooth Prep | Xenons | Adapative Headlights | Headlight Washers | HUD | PDC | Automatic Air Con - Advanced | Automatic Tailgate Operation | Heated Front Seats | Sun Protection Glass | Non-Smoker Package |

Thanks to everyone for your comments; they've been really helpfully.

I've now taken the plunge and ordered my new E61. so this will be my new ride:-

523i Touring with M Sport package, Petrol engine, manual gear box (I want to drive it!!). Colour Mystic Blue with Biege Dakota Leather and Light Poplar Wood trim. I think the Anthracite Headlining (part of M Sport package) in the roof will complement the beige and poplar wood quite well.

Options to also include Media Package (Pro Sat Nav, Bluetooth prep 6 CD-changer ect.) Visibilty Package (Xenon with Adaptive Headlights and headlight washers) Heated Front Seats, Sun Protection Glass (tinted windows). Thought about getting HUD, but as advanced air con and changed windscreen required with this it made the option too expensive for what may just be a novelty that will wear off after a few weeks.

All in it should be a very nice ride, and I'm looking forward to driving it.

My Ride: E61 525i SE Touring Automatic - Titanium Grey II, Auburn-Dakota Leather, 17" Light Alloy Wheels Star-Spoke Styling 138, Anthracite Headlining, Maple Wood, Electric Front Seats, Front Seat Heating, Automatic Air Conditioning Advanced, Navigation System Professional, Bluetooth phone prep, Professional radio, Hi-Fi Loudspeaker system, Park Distance Control, Rear Side Airbags, Side Blinds

Good choices.

Agree with your anthracite headliner choice in particular.

If you like to listen to some music - order the HiFi loudspeaker system instead of the standard speakers. They make a big difference.

Now you're talking to me baby, that i like!!
Good choice, i would only prefer an automatic gearbox for a car like this. Here in Holland 5 series touring are for 99% automatics. Manuals are very difficult to sell afterwards.
Very nice combo by the way.

Really a great choice, but as somebody else has already suggested, go with the hi-fi system. It makes the difference compared the standard.
Waiting to see some pictures.

Very much agree with Hollies, Hi-Fi speakers is ?300 well worth spending
I added it after advice here, it is not a practical retrofit either so don't miss the opportunity.

I also reccomend the Hifi uppgrade, then you get a stereo in your car! The orignal system is OK for RDS messages, but not that much more.

But I would have looked at a larger engine instead of bluetooth, CD changer and the M-pack! I had the choise of the 530D with M-pack and the 535D with out. I took the M-steering wheel, the power and steptronic...

I can imagine your problems with deciding what to get and what to not get. But that's a part a bying a BMW, the choise is yours!
