The Dealer used a plastic water bottle (0.5L), the ones they have in the fridge in the waiting area to give away to clients. Although there could be some doubts about whether or not the dealer gave me "my oil" I don't see a point for them to lie. You are right, using a hand pump and clean line would be much cleaner way of sampling. I'm at 17,000km now, and I will do another test at 20,000km. Expect results soon. Cheers

Thanks for posting andy535xi

For what my dealer told my a couple of years ago the oil is not the problem,
but the oil filters are.

These new fully synthetic long life oils last up 30,000 km's and more,
but the oil filters doesn't.

Keep up posting, thank you.

Andy... I wasn't trying to imply the dealer may have lied or deliberately given you a bad sample, not in the least, only that without knowing exactly what they did to get the sample, it's difficult to trust the results. In a garage environment, most likely the oil change equipment is used on multiple cars - if they took your sample from the same capture reservoir they use for every other car, there is a definite likelihood of contamination.

As I indicated earlier, your Si seems high, and contamination of the sample is a possible explanation for that.

Sorry folks... I wasn't trying to get anyone upset... I just figure if you're going to the trouble and expense of doing UOA, you might as well give yourself the best chance at reliable results and get your monies worth. The specifics of the sampling procedure is information that I would want to have.
