Hey guys,

So I had my first oil change at 8,000km (voluntary oil change - $136.75CDN at the dealer). I asked the dealer to leave me a sample of oil in a plastic bottle for further analysis. When I first got my car, the iDrive unit showed oil change interval of 24,000km, now the interval is down to 16,000km. I am a spirited driver, and I plan on keeping the car for a while. Thats why I want to find out how the "super synthetic" BMW oil is holding up after just 1/2 of its scheduled change.

For those who are living in the Greater Toronto Area, you'll be happy to know that I found a very reputable laboratory (www.wearcheck.ca) who can perform a detailed, 30-some parameter analysis on the oil. The cool thing is that hey can even tell if your air filter is dirty by looking at the Silica particles in the oil. I'm looking forward to visit them in the next few days. I will post results as soon as I have them BTW it cost $29

Interesting! Can't wait for the result, as I'm always changing oil and filter, just little earlier than I-drive suggested point
