Hello friends,

When installing an ISOFIX child seat yesterday, I've discovered that it's incompatible with the boot floor mat.

The seat has a strap that must be pulled into the boot and fixed to a special hook on the boot floor. The problem is, my car also has a rubber boot floor mat, and this mat covers the hook. The only solution seems to be to cut a hole in the mat to pass the strap through.

But hey, isn't BMW supposed to ensure that its accessories are compatible?

Has anyone run into the same problem, and what solution have you found?

My 2 isofix seats (Maxicosi) just clip into base points with a leg that extends down into footwell - no strap required so maybe its particular to the brand of seat you own. Not very helpful I know!

You are doing something wrong here or I don't understand.

I own a BMW ISOFIX 0+ seat and it just clicks into the ISOFIX base points and one leg rests on the floor. A photo would help us trying to help you.

I have a BMW ISOFIX seat as well as a R?mer ISOFIX seat and they both just click on to the ISOFIX base points.......there are no additional straps. Sometimes the seats come with the straps that go up the back of the seat and click onto the mounting point on the rear parcel shelf, but none of my ISOFIX seats have that strap. Maybe the strap is there in case you mount the seats in a car that does not have ISOFIX mounting points, in which case you may be able to use the car's seatbelts along with the strap clicking onto the parcel shelf.

The tether, while not absolutely necessary, greatly improves the crash performance of the child seat. The US LATCH system requires it, while ISOFIX does not.

The tether goes over the back of the seat and anchors to a hook in the floor of the cargo area. I have a similar situation with my X3. I have a cargo mat from a previous car that I "custom altered" with a pair of scissors to fit the X3. I ended up cutting a hole in the mat to allow the tether to pass through.

How are you supposed to get something behind the seats into the boot when the boot is sealed? I'm not getting this. a picture will truely speak a thousand words here.

On the sedan, there are three eyelets on the package shelf for this function, if your car is so equipped.

It looks like all three anchor points on the Touring are on the floor (Pic1). My wife's 2001 X5 had the two side anchor points on the back of the seat itself with only the middle one on the floor (Pic 2).
