My Ride: 1993-02 BMW 316i
1998-03 MB SLK 200
2003-06 Golf TDI
2/2006- BMW 520 A (hopefully soon)
Congratulations! I have mine since two weeks, black saphir and auburn leather, very enjoying and nice, I have comfort seats, which are really gooooood!
I don't think you can mount the terminal of the 525, except you change it all, but why bother?
Because when you drive the sound difference between the 4-cyl and the 6-cyl is very clear!!
Besides the sound, which doesn't really matter, I am also very, very happy,

Finally at home!
As promised here are the last pics
3/4 front...
3/4 back
front seats, excuse me for confusion on the passenger seat
and details for camera parking system, back...
and front
and finally a closer detail to the front camera
About 530d muffler no luck since tube dia. was different and requires cutting & soldering work to be done, I considered I've just paid too much money... so I give up, but after seeing that original muffler for some times I have to say that it's not that bad!
Before this car I held a merc e320cdi sw.
As to me the change wasn't that dramatic; I knew that I lose 40 hp but it's not that big difference in the common driving.
The first impressions are that my new E61 is quite less silent inside about aerodynamic rumours, it's much more rigid and all the road imperfections are quite amplified, runflats are noisy: in other words my feeling about my new e61 is 'less confortable'.
I have to say that (to me) seats are much better in bmw that in my merc, if you consider that merc was equipped with 'comfort seat' and bmw has standard seats with only extra lumbar support I consider this a great thing.
Steer reactions are much more sensitive in the new car, meaning that is quite more reactive; of course this can be true because of different geometry and project, hardness of suspensions etc. but also because merc had 225-55 R16 tyres non runflat -> vs. -> bmw runflat 225-50 R17.
Anyway I don't understand some little things: you can change a lot of things in the idrive menu but apparently there is no way to fold the outside mirrors whenever the car is locked; if you have the phone sitted in the snapin appears that if you switch off/on your car, the phone stays on all the time; safety belts are not adjustable in height; idrive is sooo sloooow; why concentrate some common climate functions in the idrive instead of put some more buttons on the dashboard ? A tactile display would be much more 'interactive' ( ah that word) and quick than that 'round handle'.
All in all, I don't regret my choice.
Happy driving to you all there!

My Ride: E61 535d sport, Silver Grey/grey/maple.
20" Hartge Nova 7. Previously 19" staggered 172s
The dealer can programme the car so that the mirrors fold when you hold the lock button.
I don't know why they don't make this standard
The cameras are great, better to trust your eyes than the PDC

The folding mirrors are "extra" with BMW which need to be paid for, I do not think the dealer can programme this, right?
e61alex, read carefully your instructions book, once you have enough "experience" the i-drive is easy to handle, preferable to the many buttons of other cars, at least for me,
if you pull/push the controller more than two seconds it switches from one chosen screen to the last one, without any further steps and without going back to main menu,... hope it is understandable what I mean...
as for comfort "runflats" is the cause, I have non-runflat and am quite happy, well maybe the comfort seats also contribute to this
