The reason for which people buy a diesel is that the mileage is higher.
But do you want to know my opinion ?
Imho a 530i 272 HP has almost the same consumption of a 535d, because the 545 does 10l/100 km .
Today, at least here, the price of the diesel (fuel) is the same of the petrol (but it will increase) .
So why to buy a diesel car ? Less reliable, the service is more expensive, the sound is not good .
At the end a 545/550 costs +?1000 per year in fuel, but it is better from all points of view and .. We say you live once!

Actually the high grade diesel is at the same price of the less grade gasoline (95 RON), but still a lot cheaper than the high grade gasoline (98/100 RON). The bigger engines can only run properly with higer grade gasoline so it is even worst the comparo money/milage between high performance diesel and high performance gasoline engines.
About reliable, it all depends of the driver but the bigger diesel engines always had the reputation of bullet proof.
As for the sound i agree with you 100%.
For a daily car - diesel
For fun - gasoline
first off i must say that your e61 is beautiful and i am looking forward to getting my own very soon...three more weeks
is your car Monaco Blue??? because thats the color that i have and now after seeing your car i am extremely happy with that decision if it is Monaco Blue.
also where can i get black out front grilles for our e61's, anybody?... are the e61's front grille the same size/style as the e60's...has there been a facelift for 2009 e61's???
i cant wait to get my car...everyone on this forum is making me want to spend a small fortune

Well the work is completed!
My E61 now stands proud without the roof rails!!
Is is not difficult to do but it takes some time!
And i have painted the exhaust tailpipes in black!
I?m happy!!!
The car looks more...stealth! And lower!

How did you remove the roof rails? Does it leave markings?

Nice looking cars! I once owned a Delta to (non the integrale). I loved it so much.

It just takes some time!
you need to remove the roofliner and unscrew the rails!
Then you need to clip some new exterior liners without holes!

Awesome looking E61, looks great without the rails. Very tastefully modded!
Nice Lancia too, my friend sold his black "Grale" a couple of years ago. It was indeed a very fast car, with fantastic handling!
