Team23jordan: I ordered the wheels of of Ebay. I forget who the vendor was as it was some time back now.

Seipäänreikä: Thanks for the complement. As for the other stuff about tire size, I have no idea what you are talking about but I wish I did.

I do not understand why you would skimp on your tire size solution. I hope you realize you are putting your transfer case at risk by running diameters outside the factory spec of .1" difference. Returning a couple tires would have cost hardly anything. Even after using them, they cost very little in the big picture.

I suggest you ask your service people about the tire size to be sure your awd system is covered when the stress from it being overworked finally causes trouble. Warranty will not cover the bill if you have caused it....

As I'm sure you found if you did the research, the staggered sets are generally only .1" variance, with the front being the taller of the two. You could actually use the oem m5 19" set up which is a taller all around tire set but still in the .1" variance range.

This has been a well debated topic for a while especially from the subie converts. the difference here is negligible. If one was to go to a dealer or a tire shop i'm sure they'd said i'm wrong .While shopping for tires to fit my 128's one rep said they would not install those tires on my car for the same reason you have stated.

But what the dealer says and what bmw is doing are a bit different. ex: x3 factory summer wheels sizes 235 45/19 front = 27.33 255 40/19rear = 27.03 the tire calculator i use says thats a .295"
difference 1% +/-. I'm running the same setup even after reading his post before i bought them. no issuses
