My MY Weirdness

My Ride: 2006 530xi Touring
2009 328i Touring
I just got my 530xit CPO at the beginning of the month.
My model year should be 2006. The dealer advertised it as 2006. The vin says it's 2006 (built 05/2005). My BMW account says my car is 2006.
When I look at a manual for 2006, the key is like my wife's 2009 e91. My key looks like the one in the 2005 manual.
Anyway, is there a cutoff or something? What makes mine a 2006 when everything seems to say it's actually a 2005?

Here's a low-tech way to answer your question. Do you have a red-ringed oil dipstick (right top of photo 1)? In the US they changed the engine to the N52 for '06 (and '07). The N52 has no red oil dipstick. Also, the newer engine has a silver cover vs. black. There are other ways, but this is the easiest for this question IMHO. My guess, based on all the other info you have, is that your car is a MY 2006 with the regular key instead of comfort access.
