BMW supplies these sizes for the E65 7er:
9x20 front 245/40R20 ET 24
10x20 rear 275/35R20 ET 24
Other members here have fitted those sizes to their E60s, e.g. the 20" Radial Spoke 32 rims.
Putting 255s up front is probably going to be too much, same case as with the M5 19" rims with 255s where members have reported problems with rubbing. I suggest going for the sizes listed above.
For more details check out this website Felgenkatalog, which has ALL BMW rims with factory default tyre sizes. Just use the drop-down tab on the left handside to select the model of car, in this case 7er E65, and it will list all wheels. You'll then find the M101 rims, click on them, and it will show you all various versions of the wheel and the BMW recommended sizes for each model.
9x20 front 245/40R20 ET 24
10x20 rear 275/35R20 ET 24

Because of the Touring's rear air suspension, you will always have limited space on the rear. That's why I needed at least 12mm with my ET32 19" rims, but actually opted for 15mm. Maybe a 5mm spacer is all you need front and rear
Sounds strange, but T?V rejected 10mm on mine and 12mm would have been ok.

Hi and thanks for replying!
As you are running 9,5" ET32 at the rear and I'm 10" ET24 we are looking at a wheel intrusion difference of 1,65 mm less than your set up. Therefore a 10 mm spacer would be sufficient. I'm sure T?V has a minimum clearance requirement and that's why they rejected your 10 mm spacer and demanded a 12 mm instead.
I will need 10 mm all around, both front and rear.
Let's see what H&R can offer...

As a point of reference, I have Front 245/35/R19, Rear 275/30/R19. That equates to a tyre wall height of 35% of 245 (85,75mm) and 30% of 275 (82,5mm).

By the way, there is no rubbing at the moment so the spacer thing is just for safety!
