My new e61 built Sept 2005 wont accept cd's with mp3 music files. I have tried finalised and non finalised disks with not luck. It does read burt cd-rs with .cda format files no problem. My dealer says they should play but i did see in a previous post that an upgrade may not be due until December. My manual indicates the mp3 section with an asterix meaning optional but i have the professional nav system fitted so i assume it will be included as their were no mp3 options when i ordered the car.
One other thing does anyone know the annual cost for BMW assist in the UK?

If you have pro nav then MP3 does not work (Business Nav is OK with recent SW) - search this forum and you will see many discussions on when/if it will be available. However, you do have a pretty new build car so maybe you will be lucky.

To cut a disc you need to ensure that the disc is created as an MP3 music disc, most CD/DVD rip/burn packages have this option.

Sorry i'm a newbie here and didnt find any links by putting "mp3" in the search box. Seems like you have to put in a longer word than 3 letters or multiple words to get a result.
I 've now managed to find the threads relating to my query and what a saga it seems BMW have created. I'll keep my eyes and ears open as to when / how bmw resolve the Nav Pro MP3 saga.

You can search for any 3 character term by searching for

MP3*

instead of

MP3

I took delivery of my E60 last Friday.
It will not play MP3 CDs in the CD player, but on the off chance I put a DVD with MP3 files in the Pro Nav DVD slot. It works !!!

Now to try a CD MP3 disc in the DVD.

The only problem is the Nav will not work without the Nav DVD.

At least I have a temp solution until the software update later in the year

By the way, what a great car

Hello,

I've just ordered my 530xd E61 and I just would like to better understand the situation... ... as I still can change the optional equipments for the moment....! (delevery date... around 12/2005-01/2006)

Regarding MP3... I don't have the Nav Sys but the Pro sound system (not the Business).
Does it include the DVD? Will my system be able to read MP3???

What is the MINIMUM configuration I need in order to read MP3???? (as I don't want the Nav Sys... I have my GPS on my PocketPC...)

Another question is regarding my Ipod... do you think I will get a chance to connect it to my car...???

Pleeeeeeeeeeeease... tell me and help me...

Thank you in advance for your help and support

Radio Pro, what is the STANDARD radio in the US. No nav, no L7, no CD changer.
With that configuration you only get one CD slot, no second DVD drive.
