I must have missed this post -- pleased to see you came out ok. You read about much worse outcomes.

I currently have Dunlop Sportmaxx and am also happy with them, but have only done about 6000km on them so far. They are almost as good as my previous Michalin PS2s performance wise and certainly offer more rim protection because the wall of the tyre sticks out a little over the lip of the rim -- that's very useful as I now share the car with Mrs xBMWx

There are lots of deer close to where I live / drive, very dark, winding, country roads
When they get hit by cars they either go under the car or through the windscreen !!!
