Default MAF for 530d E61

Hello all

I'm new to 5series.net so apologies if I'm asking a question which has been answered already (I've searched the forums but can't find information which relates to my problem specifically).

I have a 2005 530d E61 (M57N engine) and have recently started to experience a slight flat spot when accelerating, which turns into almost a complete loss of power during regen, when attempting to pull away from a standstill i.e. I floor the accelerator from a standstill, the car crawls initially for 2-3 seconds and then accelerates rapidly. I have had the car plugged into a diagnostic tool and was informed that the MAF could be at fault as there are errors stating that the MAF is blocked, but told that this could be a red herring. I have carried out the following to try and resolve the problem:

- I have replaced the MAF with a 2008 genuine second user Bosch unit to rule out this item being the cause of the issue, although this has made no different.

Can anyone advise whether the ECU needs to be re-programmed once a new MAF is fitted or whether the adaptations have to be manually reset?

If anyone can answer my question above, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Auto box?

This is a common problem, the car wants to move off in second, the heavy throttle use means it then needs to drop to 1st, hence the delayed get away. Mine has done it from new.

Way to test it is try it in DS mode, if the problem is gone, then it is the transmission 'feature' if it is still there then the MAF might be the right track.

Have you tried the autobox reset, if your car is an auto? Also you can just unplug the MAF and run about without it on, car will go to default values, but you will get an increased emmisions error.
