Hi guys ive got a light banging noise coming from the front of the car when going over bumpy or pot holed roads its like the noise you would get if the wheel bearings were loose or anti roll bar rubbers gone, on a smooth road its perfect but on a bumpy one theres a gadung dadung gadung sort of noise from the front
is there a common problem is arb bushes etc
its driving me mad PLEASE any advice would be great its an MY05 525i se Standard apart from M5 19" alloys but it was the same with the 17s on

I am also interested in this as I also have a slight but annoying noise from the front suspension over bumpy roads.
Adventure boy, if you search for "strut bar" or "strut brace" in the forum you will see a thread where the reason for the noise was a loose strut tower bar - the guy let the dealer re-tighten the strut bar and the noise disappeared. However it was more of a loud "crack" noise when going over a speed bump or similar. I.e. not exactly a recurring noise over a longer stretch of bumpy road.
I've also seen a topic or two here where the reason for similar noises could not be located even after replacing most suspension components, and in one case the reason was a worn shock at the front. Have a search for these topics, but I would be also very interested in the solution you come up with.
I will be replacing shocks and bushings later in the spring and will be able to report on any effect on the noises.

I have had exactly the same symptoms, however it may not be related to your case since you already did some visual inspections...
My front spring had failed and had a crack on the inside, however under static load (e.g. parked) the crack was compressed and somewhat hard to spot.
Maybe you could check to be sure?
Good luck!
