While we are talking on this topic, does anyone know what's the difference between Run flat tyres and Reinforced tyres? I'm thinking about ditching the run-flat and move back to conventional tyres for ride comfort, came across some called reinforced at blackcircles.com. Not sure if I need a space saver for those, can anyone help? Thanks.
I think reinforced are similar to extra load tyres and are designed to carry more weight, they will have a load rating on them so you will be able to tell. They are not designed to be used when flat and in that respect are the same as any conventinal tyre. A spare wheel would be a good idea.

Hello all,

I have a 535d E61 with 18" wheels.

The ride with RFT's is is terrible (too harsh) so I decided to change to Reinforced/extra-load tyres and it is much much better now (ride confort and handling).

I needed to adjust tire pressure upward a couple of lbs/psi. I'm not over the recommended settings on the sticker on the driver door . The higher the pressure the hardest ride you get. so you need to find a good compromise

I've done the same, up 3psi all round to 34 front and 41 rear and it seems spot on. Much better than the run flats.

I usually use around 32-35

i use 34 front 36 rear, 17 inch P7 normal tyre.. runs better than run flat and it gain 20more miles on the clock per full tank of fuel.

What size tyres and what are the BMW pressures on the door post sticker, still not 100% happy with mine, if I inflate more than 4psi over BMW normal load pressures car seem's twitchy, running at normal pressures and the car seems to bounce down the road!! Maybe it's the P Zero Tyres?

So does replacing the RFT's with non-RFT's in any way compromise the handling on a pre-LCI? Is the suspension on that set up for runflats?
