March 2007 when the 286ps version comes out...
There are some rumours that the new aluminium block are weaker that the current ones on cast iron. That is why you can't find more than 340hp from a remap. And from what i heard, the 14hp are gained only by a slighty boost increased. They changed to aluminium mainly to reduce 20kg only on the engine (208kg vs 228kg) and it still 50kg heavier than the V8. Their concern was to fit such a heavier engine in the "lightweight" E90, so they needed to make a diet on the current engines.

One realy good thing whith this new AT is that you can drive it in D and change gears on the stering wheel manuell and when you are finished it will go back too D
Already had that function with the Alpina Switchtronic system... it's handy!

Although 'only' 14hp has been gained at the peak, the characteristics of the engine have been improved. Low down torque is far better - this has been mostly achieved by the new piezo injection. Any weight reduction is welcomed!

I just had my car updated with v23 of the software and it was a big improvent! It have better bottom tourqe and lower consumsion now. The steptronic is also feeling smoother.

If you drive at more or less constant speed like 120km/h the rev alters +/-100 rpm now and then. Some times it feels like a sudden powerloss or "slip" in the transmission.

I notice that at low revs but i believe that it is just the clutch not quite biting yet - it sometimes seems to rev higher before biting without any reason as to why? I decided that its the way it is and that i should just ignore it - just like the MPG guage as it is just too depressing!

The other day i decided to try the manual mode just because i havent really tried it yet and it reved to 3000rpm before biting in each gear. I kept changing gear at around 2,500rpm and it took until 3000 to do as it was told. It was pretty much full power at the lower end of the rev range to take advantage of the torque but found the box lost most of what i was trying to put down.

Not sure if ver 23.01 has anything to do with it as i have only just tried it...

535d.... B5..... maybe take a look here:

Guess the 535d is remapped.

But the sound of the 535d makes racing not really fun...

Yep. That 535d IS remapped. Video link was posted before on this forum, I think.

However, what the video drives home to me is that the driver makes a hell of a difference... never mind the noise.
