I would refer you to another post on here, with a video of a tuned 535d 0-250km/h in 34s; but I also posted a link to another video of a B5 doing a 0-250km/h run in 21s!

Can you tune a B5? is there much scope in that?

Probably yes. Probably not. But why would you anyway? Ultrasonic flight at ground level does not sound like an appealing proposition to me.

Just kinda curious. Given the power it would probably be a stupid idea which only an idiot would do... Now if i can can convice the wife for a b5 and a remap... probably a nitros kit too

where do we stop (apart from when it kills us )

Well, there have been a few occasions where I found myself wishing for more ooomph, but not too many. Mainly, I just wish it had slightly sharper throttle response and a slightly better gearbox. A remap wouldn't help either, I suspect.

Mind you, the torque curve on the B5 is very oddly shaped - fairly steep in the mid range, then electronically limited to 700Nm at the top end. A remap could unlimit that, but the transmission may suffer, of course...

I suspect DMS could get 550ps out of a B5 without much trouble - though ultimately the supercharger design may make it a little harder to tune than a turbo-car.

Do you have a Manual or some form of Autobox on your car?

Is it the same transmission as the M5?

Personally i prefer the power to be lower down as it allows lazier driving.

Somebody's been reading EVO!

Though it is true. What's more, even in manual mode, the box changes up at least 1000 rpm before the redline in 1st.

The M5's transmission would never take that kind of torque. They did try the M5's diff on the B5, during development, but it kept getting mangled after 2 laps of the 'ring.

Yes, well, there are rumours of a B5S model, with an H2 spec 4.8l engine. With a beefed-up version of the revised autobox and the LSD that's now available, that thing would be a monster.
