Hi..

I've got a 2005 530dat and wanted to do some minor mods..
Anyone know if the new type of gear knob will fit straight on the old type.. Thinking of the same that the new x5 has got.. (pic included).
Also looking into changing the keys and get the start button from 2006> Anyone done this???

Cheers
Kim Rudi

I don't think that these are feasible mods:

- The LCI shifter assembly you want is shift-by-wire while the older steptronic shifter has mechanic gear selection. There are however some members here who have placed the LCI shifter handle on top of their old selector and even connected the wiring so the P/R/N/D/D-S lights are functional.
- Startbutton is associated a.o. with your steering column, keys and other critical systems. I doubt this can be done with reasonable investments.

Sorry for the bad news...
