Default intermittent radiator fan on and off

As the title states my fan will just turn on full then turn off. It doesn't have to be a warm day or A/C on. I watch the water temp with the JB4 mobil and the car is not hot.
My suspicion is water pump but I would love someone to tell me that it is not
I guess a waterpump on a xi is a real pain.
Thanks!

@seanjordan20 recently had that same issue, and his Fan was the culprit.

Do you have INPA or ISTA? That will tell you what your issue is by the messages it gives. My issue was a bit different. Usually when I hear a fan that's running high intermittently during idle or operation it's usually the pump or cooling sensor.

If you don't have one of those 2 programs and you have a laptop it's easy to get and about $20 for the cable

Uh, I remember you unknowingly had that knock off fan, that was turning on full and then off when you first started the car. You said you replaced the fan. I ran out and checked my fan, for you.

It was the knockoff aux water pump causing my fan to trigger at startup. I still have my original fan.

Any suggestions on what I should do? I ran a fault test on the water pump with the schwaben tool with no issues. I usually have the JB4 screen on watching water temp. I am thinking it should be fine as long as I do not see the temp climb.
I am at 115k miles with no know history of the water pump. I will have to do it at some point, just trying to avoid it right now.
