My Ride: 2006 BMW 530XI
Default I need advice on ZF 6HP19X Transmission . HELP

Ever since I bought my 2006 BMW 530XI, there was something odd about 3rd Gear. Every time it shifted to 3rd gear, it would make a Cat sound. Also, I could not step on it. So, finally I had some time and bought a solenoid and Seal Kit from fcp and took apart the mechatronic part of the transmission and proceeded to replacing the solenoids. So . I was about to reinstall the Mechatronic and noticed inside the multi pin connector, one of the pins were bent. I was extremely careful when I lowered this module and made sure it did not bang into anything. I now wonder if this was the original issue and the previous owner left me a gift. So I went to carefully straighten again and my worst nightmare, the pin snapped at its base. So after I was done crying for 1 Hour, I am hoping one of you can give me good advice. There are 16 Pins inside this connector and I believe its pin 16. I went to that usual TIS website for wiring diagram hoping that this pin is not used, just to find out BMW AG has shut that website down. I can't find any drawings on what that pin does. I whish I could just solder a new pin but this thing is sealed up and that option is a nope.

So, I see some used ones on Ebay , but I am not sure about the programming the Vin # back on it. Can a Foxwell bidirectional scanner do this.? There is Vin Programming and Code if I am not correct or not

How bad Am I screwed and how can I fix this? I would appreciate if you guys can give me some advice. I need my car fixed asap.

Looks like Pin 16 is in use, earth ground. I've found a few forum posts about guys that have simply soldered the broken pin back on and had success getting it to work. You may not have anything to lose. Good luck - let us know how you make out. I don't have any information regarding replacements or coding.

Oh man, this is Good information. Thanks a Million.

Pin 16 is Return . I wonder if pin 13 is the same node. On the harness end ( on the Car with the female pins), it looks like Pin 3, 8, 12 are not populated. I also see that there are these plastic locking clips keeping the entire module together and it moves. Can this module be taken apart so I can get to the back of this pin and unsolder it and install a new one or is that high risk. I am suspecting some kind of ribbon cable with pins soldered to it. I see that Pin 8 and 12 are not being used. If I can get to the back of this cable, I can swap them out. I am a tech by trade and have access to good soldering tools

I've uploaded the source document for the pin-out diagram - I found it on another forum. Can't help you with repair techniques - I don't have any insight on that - I've only ever done the mechatronic seal. Good luck with the repair and let us know how you make out.

Thanks man. I tried so hard to take apart the TCU out as careful as I could and the way BOSH has designed this is that it is theft proof. You have to brake it by the solenoid since all the Latches are internal. Not sure why Bosh had to make it so protective. I was able to locate another one from near by salvage yard just now I am not sure if I need to clone it at some place or not. A BMW shop near my house said that as long as the new computer is close to my car, I should be able to just put it in and drive then update the vin #'s later. I have my doubts about this but he is the shop. He said as long as its close to my car and right now I am not sure other than its a 6HP19X Conductor plate.

This BMW is driving me insane. I had the Mechatronic rebuilt by a reputable place, then I reinstalled everything back with proper torque and fluid level. The Conductor plate that I had damaged ( Pin), I had to acquire another one to send the new used one and my old one + CAS + Key to a place in Chicago to clone it. Now, I have issues. Sometimes the module is seen and sometimes its not being seen which make me go into Limp mode. I think I have the 16 Pin connector pushed in all the way and locked into the seal and I even took the pan out and made sure the Seal is in all the way. So, I took my car to a BMW specific shop in my town and he too said that he can not communicate with the TCU or GWS.

Freaking BMW Engineers did not give me any space to work with with that 16 Pin connector. You have a deep 2" Hole to work with and I even took a cross beam off and it gave me 1/2" More. Beginning of next year, I will take my car back to the same shop so they can take a better look at it. I whish BMW engineers would have given me an access panel inside the car so I can get to that connector easier. With the XI, its impossible. So, sometimes I am able to communicate and sometimes, I can't. I really don't know what else I can do.

Is there any slack behind that 16 Pin connector that I can bring the connector down and exam it?

If they tell me that I need a new Transmission Conductor plate or even a transmission, I am scrapping this Car.

An update on this. I did not have the sleeve pushed in all the way . Mechanics were able to drop the pan and reseat it and now it communicates . At the least I got that issue out of the way.
