Oooh.... I didn't know there was an HD satnav! I had the Professional system with full telematics and voice control on my old car but it was DVD based. When did they introduce that?
As for the other bits, I agree on all except the comfort seats. For some reason i prefer the Sports seats myself. I also had the blinds on the old car and I'd order them again as I do have small children. Although - the Sun Protection Glass option would probably do the same,
I visited the dealer today and there are a few cars in the UK that I could get next week. One in particular is a carbon black 530d mSport, SA with black dakota leather and the full media (Pro Nav, BT, voice etc) and vision package, sun protection glass, detachable towhook, heated seats, etc...
It doesn't have the USB audio option, but they said they could fit one for me for free.
As for the "Edition" versions, I didn't know about those, but I've just checked and there's a "Business" edition available for new 530d MSports (?1,750) with:
Dakota leather upholstery
Navigation system - BMW Professional Multimedia
Bluetooth telephone preparation with telematics
USB audio interface
BMW ConnectedDrive - Assist
BMW ConnectedDrive - Online
Door sill finishers with Edition designation (SE Models only) or M Sport designation
19" light alloy wheel upgrade on M Sport models
Voice control
Which seems an excellent deal compared to the price of doing it separately and is almost exactly the spec I want if i add in heated seats, sun glass or blinds and the headlight pack.
Nice tip - thanks!
What does the "Sport" edition have different to the base mSport car?
Now my dilemma is whether to get a car next week, or in a couple of months time instead.....

I think the package you describe is the substitute for the Dutch Sport package. We do get PDC, leather, hifi, nav pro, Blue tooth, seat heating and more.
Btw, you probably won't get 19's with the package, as that's not an available option on the Touring.

True, you need a separate delivery as you need either two sets of front wheels or spacers for the rear wheels.
I'll check with the dealer and see if they know anything about it.
I think I will be going for a factory order now:
530d mSport Touring
mSport pack (includes 18" wheels, full body kit, sports suspension, black headlining, black shadowline trim etc..)
"Edition" pack if available (pro satnav, telematics, bluetooth, voice control, USB audio, dakota leather, POSSIBLE 19" wheel upgrade?)
Visibility pack (Xenon's, adaptive headlight and headlight washers)
Heated front seats
Sun protection glass
Now I've got to do the difficult bit......what colour outside and inside.....???

Don't forget the sunblinds. The tint is not enough for your kids.
I would go for Titansilber / Black leather. I've got Carbon black and I would never order it. It looks great, but it's quite a handful on maintanance (you see all the scratches!).
Space grey is also nice. Perhaps Space grey / Natural brown leather?
O, forgot to mention. I like the high-beam assist. There are lot's of dark 2-lane roads where I live, and it really works (and it's not )!that expensive)! And also don't forget the Sport Auto.

My old car was Platinum Grey, and the one before was Space Grey.....
I like the Platinum the best, but I'm also toying with dark blue or maybe black. I'm not sure if I really should buy a car that looks exactly the same as the one I had a few weeks ago.
We had the blinds on the last two cars - but if you think that the glass isn't as good, then I'll spec them back in too.
Sports Auto is a "must". It's a great gearbox and I wouldn't go back to a "normal" one....

I understand that you don't want exeaclty the same color. On the other hand, if that's the best color for you, then go for it! Both grey colors look great with natural brown leather!
You can't order Saphire black with the M-sport. You'll get Carbon black and that looks more blue than black. It's a great color, but as I said, you see every scratch on the car. A grey color is the 'easyest' color to keep clean!
The 'regular' and 'SA' are the same gearbox, only the SA comes with paddles and a sport button (and it's great!).

Yeah - I hear you on the black. I nearly ordered my old one in black, but didn't in the end as it's so hard to keep clean.
I also had the sports auto box on the old car - with the paddles, and I'll order exactly the same this time around!
I spoke to my dealer today and had them confirm the Business Edition spec - it DOES include 19" wheels for the Tourings as well - so maybe they fit spacers in the factory? He also confirmed that the HDD satnav started in build week 36 2008.
I'm leaning towards a factory order for the Business Edition - and in fact the dealer has held me a factory "slot" as they don't start building the UK versions until build week 10 - so right now I've actually got the first slot for UK cars booked!
Maybe Platinum Grey again. I do like the colour.....

Wow, 19's Style 172 on a Touring..... I'm suprised. Make sure you got that on paper, so the dealer has to deliver!
What color leather did you have on your Platinum Grey? As I mentioned, the Natural Brown looks great, but I also like the beige leather, although both colors are not that great with kids....
With brown or beige leather, I would advise you to change the aluminium inside to black or dark wood.
You're gonna love the new HD satnav!

I will make sure to get it in writing though.
The Platinum car had black Dakota leather (and anthracite bamboo trim) - it was the blackest of black interiors.
I was thinking about lighter seats, but i do have three small boys (who have muddy feet and no respect for a quality vehicle) and i think it would show the dirt more than a dark colour. My wife hates brown too, so it's not worth my while going in that direction.
What are the differences from the 2008 DVD satnav to the HD one? I've looked for detail, but can't find anything....

Personally I hate a dark exterior colour with a light coloured leather interior
