How long does a software update take?

I have the current E61, built 06/2007.
The car needs a software update to solve a problem with the bluetooth connection between my Mobilephone and the carkit.
The dealer can't tell how long this will take precisely and says it will take between 2 to 8 hours !
Does anyone here have experience with software update of the car?

What is not good is when the car is alone, hooked up to the Mother Ship overnight, and something fails. Then they have to start the whole process over again the next day.

Depends on the car , some times they take first try, others take repeated try's and can take over night.
