RE: How best to lower an M-Sport E61 Touring

I checked a few posts here and in the accessories & mods forum, and concluded that the Eibach Pro Kit was the way forward is you also wanted to keep some comfort -- the H&Rs seem to be a little lower, but less comfortable.

I went on the internet I found the "E61" Eibach Pro Kit for a little over EUR 100, and noticed it has 4 springs. However I have read that you drop the rear of the E61 by changing the software.

So what do I need to drop my M-SPORT (suspension) E61 Touring?
1) Eibach Pro Kit with 4 springs
2) Eibach Pro Kit with 4 springs + software change for rear air suspension
3) Eibach Pro Kit with 2 springs + software change for rear air suspension
4) something completely different?!

Also how much should I expect to pay for installation?

thanks in advance for the help

Do you have self-leveling rear air suspension?

Yes

(I thought all E61 Tourings has self-leveling rear suspension?)

So does this mean I need to do something with the software as well?

My vote. You need the rear springs but you also need the amazing power of software upgrades

Ok, thanks.

How much does it cost to get this all done by BMW? Any idea?

I lowered the rear air suspension mine myself. I wrote up a how to guide in the DIY section. It's a mechanical way and not an electronic way.

Thanks for pointing to your diy. (I assume kept the original springs?)
How did you lower the front?

I did it with:

3) Eibach Pro Kit with 2 springs + software change for rear air suspension

Front springs changed at local dealer (no name ), it is not hard to do it. The rear was done by software change.
