I'm currently attempting to get the trunk lid trim off. I've got the screws out can't figure out how to get the trim off, seems to be still attached up near the window?
Brad, Remove the three trim pieces around the rear window. Also, if your rear window still opens (mine wouldn't), you'll want to remove the rounded black trim which covers the wiper motor. There'a a post above with a link to diagrams.

Got all the window trim off but as my rear window won't open, I can seem to dislodge that small trim piece. is there a trick to it?

Or is there a way to manually get the rear window to open? If I can get that up, the trim piece would be so easy to remove.

I was able to remove the rear panel by being rough with it as I was pretty annoyed. I'm not sure you'll have access to the black piece if the window doesn't open. It's held in with clips and no, I didn't break anything that wasn't already broken!

I tricked the back door into thinking it was locked with the manual override, got the window open and therefore the final trim piece. I got the locking mechanism removed and there's a loose metal piece and a spring floating around in there. Can't quite figure out where they attach to.

That's EXACTLY what happened to mine. The loose metal piece which sheared off is what the other end of the spring attaches to.

Ah, that makes sense, it looked like it was sheared but I wasn't sure. Cool, so now I just have to order PN 51247114612 and I should be all set. Hopefully the local dealership will have it in stock.

Thanks a bunch for the help xiTouring!

Brad.
