Glow Plug Control Module Error 4203
Hi All,
I'm after some help here woulds be greatly received, so my issue is .
i bought a 2004 BWM e61 5seires 525d i no it had some issue most i have fixed
the problem ive got it that the glow plug control was showing in error as well as all the glow plugs all 6 cylinders had error even when i cleared the codes off they came back
so a bough a new glow plug control unit and 6 new glow plugs,
the 6 glow plugs errors have now gone but the control until error is still there with code 004203 DDE Glow Control Unit am i missing ive used ESTA to reset and clear the code looking in to this abit more it also say no communication to BSD interface,
im a little lost now on what it could be

That error suggests that the communications bus (Bit Serial Data bus) between the DDE (engine control module) and the Glow Plug control module isn't working. The DDE would not be able to see if there were any glow plug failures as it can't talk to the glow plug controller. You'll need to check if the wiring is OK (I think the bus in on the smaller round plug) or it might be the controller that's failed again. They seem to be extremely fragile, I'm on my third and am having the same issues as you after a few months of it all working fine following replacing controller and plugs.

Thanks for the information, it's worth checking that cable. As you say the data bus one
I will have a look this weekend and check strip down the engine as i've goI've new glow plug control unit to swap out..
I did get myself a spare bus cable as well. Just in case the other ones, no good.
