Default Fuel tank leak

So trying to fix the threads on my rear right side passenger seatbelt on my 535xi , i used the tap to far down and threaded a hole on my gas tank.

Any DIY out there on how to replaced this since im buying one?

Would like to save $500 or $600 just in labor.

$10 is the max i can go on my tank right now.

Well ..... I am guessing the gas tank is some kind of thermoformed plastic. If you can identify exactly what it is made of, then you can use a soldering iron type of welder with proper filler to repair the hole/crack in the tank. Provided you didn't kill some kind of sensor boss or mounting bracket.

There is no open flame with that kind of welder, so fire risk is minimal. Nonetheless, it wouldn't be a bad idea to fill the tank with water before you start welding.

Agreed. If you have the part already, replace. It will have to come off no matter what.
