520 DIESEL Automatic:
After 3000km of calm highway and some city driving the average consumption by computer is 7,1l/100km. I am bit surprised as they say the official figure would be 5,8. The dealer said it will get down after a few tanks. Well, few tanks means few thousand km's.
Have any of you got experience if this is true? Is the consumption of a new car higher than after driving some thousand kms?
My ex-E60 530da's long term consumption was quite same, 7,2l/100km

A normal week going to and from work and some driving in the city I average 5.9l/10km.
I?ve driven the car 10.000km so far and it kind of "loosens up" after 7.000-8.000km.

Hi, I've been driving a month now and app. 5000kms. The consumption has come down a bit, as it was expected to do. Tonight I had a 1,5 hour "eco drive" on highway on 110km/h av.speed while consumption became 5,7l/100km. It's way better than a while ago when it was 7,1! And I can feel the car performance getting better all the the time!!

My fuel consumption experience does not qualify for the public announcement. Its caused by very low millage - approx. 300km .

Nevertheless at the dealership I got very interesting info concerning the fuel consumption. I was told that at the first 20K km or 2 years the E60 comp was programmed to deliver reacher gas to the engine. After bridging first 20K or first 2 years the comp should automatically adjust to the regular gas doses. It should result with lower (up to 1l/100km) fuel consumption.

What do you think about it?

Just got back from a run down to Devon yesterday - total of about 380 miles (600+km) round trip, cruise used on the motorway at about 80-85mph - computer given 37.6mpg (which I think is 7.51 lit/100km in metric terms...??). Haven't filled back up, so can't give an accurate tank-to-tank reading, but will add it later. It drops back to nearer 32/33mpg round home on short trips. Not bad for a pre-LCi 535d sport touring......
