I'm shipping an 06 530 xi wagon to an island where only regular gas is avaiable . is this ok for my car or can anyone tell me what can be done .

Did you check your manual? Turbo cars are more sensitive, but I'd guess your knock sensor will just adjust things accordingly and you'll have less than max power. I doubt running 87 octane will harm your car, our previous Volvo XC70 with a 3 liter turbo engine said this stuff in the manual. If you start hearing pinging, maybe an octane booster could help?

I also have an '06 530xi wagon; its engine is not turbocharged. My owner's manual includes the following statement on page 195:

Required fuel

Super Premium Gasoline/AKI 91
This gasoline is highly recommended.

However, you may also use gasoline with less
AKI. The minimum AKI Rating is 87.

If you use gasoline with this minimum AKI Rating,
the engine may produce knocking sounds
when starting at high outside temperatures.
This has no affect on the engine life.
So, you should be OK with 87 AKI gasoline (~91 RON octane), which is "regular" here in the US at low altitude. But, what's the spec for the island's "regular"?
