Fault "TRUNK LID POWER LOCK DRIVE" on E61 2006 520D
I recent found my 2006 E61 520D got some problem on the rear trunk lid power lock drive, which is the following item
Normally when you shut the tailgate, the power lock drive should turn itself automatically to lock the tailgate tight. But mine does not do that everytime, I would say about 1/5 times it works fine. The rest of the time when I shut the tailgate, it just do nothing. When I click the Boot Lid/Tailgate push button, the power lock drive always turn 360 degree with no fault.
This problem will make the car won't get into sleep mode and will cause the alarm beep after the car is locked. Also, the error msg of "tailgate not closed" always pop on the dashboard when this fault happens.
Is there anybody have got the same issue or something similar? After the tailgate is shut, which unit controls this power lock drive unit to turn? Well,if it is too hard to repair, is there a simple way just to disable the tailgate sensor / alarm? Cheerss for your time read about E61's problem.
Best Regards

I suggest it would be due to this common fault:

Boot sorted. Theres a video on YouTube that shows where that hole is for the window latch. After that it's easy taking the housing off. My issue was just the latch and not the whole wiring so I just replaced the lock mechanism.
