Greetings group, I have searched the forum-but seem unable to find any info on the end of production of the e61 touring. I am under the impression that the e60 will cease production this fall (2009) and be replaced with the F10 I believe. But will BMW cease making the touring at this time? Or will they continue the e61 body style for awhile longer?
Does anyone know the last month the touring will be bulit before the new F11 (_?_) touring will start production?

Thanks for any info.
I am possibly in the market for a e61-but not till next April.

The F10 is scheduled March 2010 according to the available information, and the F11 according to same sources in September 2010. The E61 will thus be built until Aug 2010 at the least, and could be extended a bit longer if there is demand for it. Again, this is just speculation and is subject to the "real" plan from BMW re launch dates for F10 and F11.

I've read that there will be four versions of the new 5 series: Saloon, Touring, GT and Estate.

Would love to see the difference between Touring and Estate.

Thank-you for this info. I guess this means I could order a car here in the states in June 2010-I would pick it up in mid-August which would work for me. My lease is up next June, so any time after April 15 or so would work. My last Touring was a'99 e39-540i---with the sport pack. Such a fine car-the handling and balance was superb. I really miss the utility and sport combination of that car. My only worry about the e61 is the handling--as here in the US the e61 touring does not have the sport suspension, nor the "sport auto" transmission like the e60. So I am going to drive one in the next few weeks to see how it handles. My other concern is the transmission--I had a 2005 545i that was a disaster-the transmission was re-programmed 5 times for the infamous "tranny slam"--and then replaced--even the new tranny "slammed" after they put it in so BMW bought the car back---it was a complete nightmare. And I still read many posts from E60 forum members who complain about their transmission problems. I will do the test drive soon and try to make up my mind.

Thanks for the input. You have a beautiful car narvselius!

Different names in different parts of the world. The set-up is still three;

1. Berlina/Sedan/Saloon
2. Kombi/Estate/Touring
3. Hunchback of Notre Dame

...that's a bit unfair on the Hunchback of Notre Dame, he's much better looking than the GT

Aren't the 3er and 5er "Touring" models now called "Sports Wagons" or something in the US and A?

Yes--this is true-the classic American moniker-STATION WAGON- is not used by BMW here-SPORT WAGON-is the current name!

It is a Station Wagon but Americans think that only mom's drive Station Wagons and Station Wagons have been replaced with Mini Vans.

The "cool" family car is a SUV like the X5. I had a X5, very nice SUV but the Wagon handles better get much better MPG and has almost the same room of the 04 X5.
The only thing I miss about the X5 is the towing capicty.
