After all the rain we had here, heard water sloshing in the rear passenger door. Pulled the vapor barrier, found the glue was weak in two spots and the drain opening in the corner of the door was blocked by a piece of tape or similar. Cleaned the gunk off of the barrier and the door and re-sealed, no more problems after more rainy days.
What did you do to fix the glue? For my E46 I went to a roofing store and picked up a roll of butyl tape and I think it worked fine to seal the vapor barrier back on.
3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner and lots of elbow grease to remove the gunk from the door and the vapor barrier, re-seal with 3M Windo-Weld Round Ribbon Sealer.
Still around and kicking approaching 135,000 miles.
Five oil changes since last update and a bunch of maintenance: main fuel feed line, crank sensor, Vanos solenoids, front passenger axle, driveshaft flex disc, rear transfer case seal and o-ring, transfer case service, motor mounts.
One day I parked the car in a parking deck, came back a couple hours later and the car would not crank at all, completely dead. Swapped a new battery in, no change. Dang, at that point it has to be the starter. Tow truck guys had fun pulling the car out of the parking deck, maneuvering in tight spaces. A new starter solved the problem and I consider myself lucky as two weeks later we went to the Okefenokee swamp, it would suck to have the car die there.
A while ago the rear glass started unlocking randomly so it was time for a new rear glass micro-switch. Original on the left, replacement on the right, they don't make them like they used to anymore.
