Question e61 Service book - need to check before purchase

Hi,

Signed up the other day. Will be collecting my e61 530d soon.
(I've used the search box, but cant find anything answering my question below - may have missed it of course.)

So, before I pay for the car in full, I'm making sure all is in order and there's no surprises!

Right, i've asked for scanned copies and proof of service history, I've been sent the PDF scans below.....although they don't look like the standard BMW Service Booklet I'm used to seeing.
They've confirmed via email that the service history is fully compliant with BMW regs.
(I would go and check myself, but the car is 5 hrs away and i'm too busy with work to get there)

The car is from 10/2008, has 46000 km (28600 miles).
How many services/checks should the car have had by now - 04/2013?
Not sure if it's time/mileage based?

Could someone post up pics of theirs to compare. My car is a Euro zone (Spanish) example - however i doubt it make any difference to the BMW documentation.

Thanks in advance!

These cars are time and mileage based, so they tell you when to do maintenance. I change my oil once a year regardless.

Well, you mean they are NOT time or milage based right?

On the contrary, they are usage-based, i.e. service interval is determined by sensors and software in the car and is depending on e.g. driving style. And first service made at 32681 km is normal. I bought mine used at 95k, first serviced at around 28k. Second around 50k. Third 80k.

I totally agree with Lotus99 to change the oil once a year regardless. (some would say that's being a tad too anxious .. but I'm in Sweden, with long cold winters - maybe not as relevant for you in Spain).

However it's not likely you find a used car with that oil change frequency. (you'd have to find someone as neurotic as me or Lotus.

For bmw guarantee it's enough to have the car serviced according to its indicators tho.

Thanks for the replies.

I also change the oil more frequently than the service book (or car) says.
Still, 32600km seems a bit too long to leave it, but if BMW says it's ok...

Does the book (PDF files) look right though?
On other BMW it's different (pics attached below)

Sorry, I wrote it wrong. That's what I meant to say, that the computer figures out how long or many miles you need to go before the next service.

I had a look in my service booklet and it looks like this last one you posted. Have never seen the one you posted previously. (btw I had it wrong in previous post, the oil service had been done at 28k, 50k and 80k .. and inbetween that various other stuff like microfilter, brake fuid)

thanks,

Been doing more checking...think the BMW Service Booklet format has changed now - to the style from the pdfs above, although thought the 'old' style is the one used for a 2009 e61.
