A friend of mine is planning to buy a 535d E61 with panoramic roof.
He told me that the panoramic roof is subject for problems like leakage. I told him I haven't noticed any problems mentioned on this forum. Or did I just missed it??

If there are, what are the issues and how frequent are they mentioned?

 

Suggest do a search. Quite a few posts about wind noise - and I had big rattles before replaced - but don't recall about leaks (though did hear can get water in footwell if leaves block some vents under bonnet)
What can't tell is how many have no problems with roof as they don't post ;-) Certainly transforms the brightness and ambience

 

A friend of mine with an E61 530iAT has a panoramic roof that worked well for about two years. Then all of a sudden wind noise appeared. The dealer tried to fix it on several occasions but didn't succeed. Now he might get the roof replaced under warranty but he is a bit hesitant as the dealer has never replaced a panoramic roof before.

I have a 2006 E61 530XD with panoramic roof. I have mixed feeling on it. It is nice for the light it brings into the car, nice to drive [slowly] with open roof under the sun , [not that frequent in Uk though...]. Yet it does add some wind noise, when shade is open. It is obvious. yet nothing bad. It is starting above 80km/hrs. When shade is closed, car is definitely quieter and wind noise is not any louder than a normal car (at least it did not strike me as sounding worst than a non panoramic roof equivalent car). maybe because RF tyres are noisy ...and I have almost always the stereo on anyway ...

So I would be leaving south of France or sunny california, I would take the option . Otherwise I wouldn't :thumbsdown: . But as I bought the car used I did not had choice in fact .
