Default E61 leak into boot (not sunroof)

Hi all,

After a bit of help please. I had ride height system failure warning, and after a few days regualr tyre pressure failure and cluster gauges curring out, and today pdc failure.

So it seemed electrical so i checked the battery and boot, to find about half a litre of water in the spare wheel well, which has soaked the air suspension module, made the relays soggy and made the pdc (and maybe tyre pressure?) module somewhat damp.

(it was dry back in summer I recall, so a recent ish leak)

After drying stuff up and ordering a new module, I looked into the cause of the leak.

My car however is poverty spec and does not have any sort of sunroof, which is what dominates the Google search results.

With the boot floor up i started pouring water around the lower bummer, light clusters, glass lid, top of rear hatch, and then ultimately around the sharkfin antenna.

I did start to see water coming into the boot at this point, but only then realised it could have simply taken a couple of minutes to make it's way down the car from any of the previous points....

Anyway, the leak is coming from between a seam in the inner boot body.

My question is- is anyone familiar with the cause of such a leak?

For context, this pic is taken from the bass of the wheel well facing the rear of the car.

The seam seems to be a body panel bonded to the top edge of the spare wheel well, but with those square profiles which leave small gap every half inch or so

The water is somehow getting into that seam in the bodywork and draining down

Thanks

Ian

(Ps I have shifted the modules up to the boot tray above the spare whell for now.

I'd say just isolate what point it is making the water go in and seal it. I've never seen a leak from that point so it's going to take some time to find where from the outside it's coming from. To me it looks like it would be coming from the light area. That just makes sense to me but not too sure
