Same. I've been telling my friends this too but the reward is that there won't be a car looking anything like mine in town. Just going to take a little more effort and research but going to be more than worth it.

Anyway, back to offsets... Before I did my M5 brake/hub conversion, I was running 19x8.5 ET32 up front and 19x10 ET38 in the rear with 245/285 staggered S-04 tires. The rear required some “massaging” of the fenders, but it was a nice flush look without being “stanced” as you put it. The front likely could have gone a bit wider too.
I later switched to 245/275 staggered PSS, and that gave me a little more lateral clearance in the rear that I consumed with the increased diameter. But that increase diameter led to slight rubbing in the front, so any additional width or decreased offset would not have worked.
So, I included the story to illustrate that it’s not just offsets, but a combination of lowered suspension height, wheel widths, tire widths, and diameters that must be considered in combination.
If you plan to keep everything stock with 17’s and narrow tires, you can probably just throw some 10mm spacers up front and 15mm (maybe 18-20mm if you’re willing to chance some fender work) in the rear and call it a day.

Wheel wells are definitely not the same between the wagons and sedans. I can confirm that 295 and larger tires will not fit our wagons (at least without heavy modification), but some sedan owners have reported getting them to fit. I learned an expensive lesson to not chase the sedan mods without a little more research.
