E61 Diversity Antenna - can you use other series?
Hi all, long time lurker. Thanks for all the help I've already found from searching the forum.
The central locking on my e61 has stopped working unless the key is directly under the rear spoiler. From reading the forum this looks to point to the diversity antenna. I've previously replaced the cables going through the tailgate as some were severed, all the connections seem ok. So, I have 2 questions on replacing the diversity antenna if anyone is nice enough to reply:
1) Is there a function or test I can use to diagnose the diversity antenna issue in ISTA or INPA?
2) Can I use a diversity antenna from another BMW series (e.g. 6 series)? They look the same size/connections but seem to be significantly cheaper? Would any additional coding be required?
Thanks in advance.

The 6 series E63 E64 diversity antenna can be used without coding - I've done this and it works, no problem. It's physically identical, except for the mounting hardware - you just swap the hardware from your old diversity antenna.
