E61 automatic tailgate doesnt stay up. PLS HELP QUICKLY!
Hi
E61 automatic tailgate doesnt stay up
I have used the search but can not find a solution for this problem. Its a 2008 with softclose. Everything works perfect, opening, closing and locking exept when in open position it wont stay open but starts to drop immediatly. It goes down in 30 seconds
This problem started after driver side hydraulic strut and pump was replaced (it was replaced because the old strut could not attach anymore to ball joint on the frame) in the shop

Check your gas strut on the passenger side. it might be going bad and unable to support the tailgate anymore.

I had this issue after rebuilding my hydraulic pump, not sure why.
I put the door in the up position, and pulled it down manually, using moderate to high pressure.
That pretty much solved it. That was 2 years ago. Probably some debris stuck in a valve?
