I drove a beautiful 1999 Biarritz Blau 540iA Touring Sport package for almost 3 years. One of the finest cars ever IMHO.
While I am now very happy driving my '05 545, I have to say that many members here have some gorgeous E61 wagons. But I do not see anyone posting about driving/owning an E61 550 Touring. Anyone on this board drive such a lovely car? We cannot get this car in the US-I wish we could-but none the less-I would love to hear anyones impressions of such a fine machine. Anyone care to fill us in on what it's like?

Because I was vacationing at your side of the ocean, I hadn't noticed your post till now.
I own one since beginning of the year, and, as you could expect, it's a machine from outer space.
equiped with dynamic drive and active front steer, it never shows how big and heavy it is while driving, outruns and outcorners abouth everything out there on the road (except high-end porche's and the like)
and does it all with an ease you will never quite understand untill you have driven one
My former E39 528 touring (I still have it and drive it almost every weekday), which I always recconed to be a superb driving machine, is totally outclassed by it; the 550 is not only an improvement over the 528, it's in a different leage (unfortunally that also goes for the fuelconsumption..)
