E61 2010 diversity antenna wiring
Hi all.
I hope someone can help me with this problem.
I changed the divercity antenna because the remote key-fob did not work. After it was replaced it works again, but only at a short distance. I tried to replace the antenna amplifier again, but same problem.
Have replaced the battery in the keys, and checked the battery in the car. Could there be a break in the antenna cable? FM and AM radio work fine.
I have checked the cables between the tailgate and the roof.Anyone know what the two contacts are? Are any of them for key-fob?

It's been a while since I've had mine apart but doesn't the red (#1) connector go to the actual diversity antenna that is inside the rear spoiler? When I remove my rear spoiler there is a ribbon cable coming off under the brake light and I thought it plugged in there. That is the AM antenna as well as the key fob antenna (I believe). Can't remember what the black connector is for, perhaps it goes to the rear window glass FM antennas.

Pop the cover and inspect the board too. Might be some corrosion inhibiting signal.
Also, I believe the antenna cable runs thru the hatch hinges, which can become frayed and broken like all the other hatch wiring.

Thank you for your answers.
Contact no. 1 goes to the rear window, and contact no. 2 goes to the rear spoiler.
I wonder which of them is for the antenna for the keys

Problem solved
It turns out that contact no. 1 that goes to the rear window is the antenna for the car keys.
Contact no. 2 goes to the AM antenna which is glued to the spoiler.
There is a break in the cable to the rear window, so I have little range on the signal from the keys.
I glued a cable in a loop inside the spoiler and plugged it into the antenna amplifier, and it gave a better signal.
I will probably have to change the rear window for it to be as good as before

When I have had rear defrost wire traces on the window break I have been able to get a paint from a local parts store and paint them back together (I think it has gold flecks in it for conductivity) and that may help you here. Wasn’t sure if you saw the break on the glass or in a wire coming off the glass.
