Hey Guys,

I've had the car for almost 2 weeks, and I've noticed some issues that I might be having with it.

Update on the PDC malfunction - one sensor was faulty and shorted the whole system, the dealer replaced the sensor and now its fine.

Issue 1: When driving between 130 - 140km/h I notice a howl in the cabin. It is a low pitch howl (like a Chellow [sp]) and it varies in amplitude but not pitch. It goes away after 140km/h, sometimes it starts coming on at ~125. It sound like its coming either from the front tires or the rim. It not the engine because even in neutral it still howls. The dealer checked all the seals, and plastics and could not find anything loose. Anyone had the same problem before? My car has the M Sport Suspension and Skirt Package and 135 18" wheels with Goodyear runflats.

Issue 2: I got a loaner from the dealer (535i) and it doesn't have a NAV Package. The iDrive screen takes way faster to load than my car. Also the iDrive operates quicker in general (when hopping from menu to menu, or making selections). My car can sometimes take upto 30seconds after start up for me to be able to operate menus. Anyone had this before?

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

answer issue 2:
Enter your car at the dealer and ask to install or reinstall the lastest version for your I drive.
it will take about 4 hours. all mistakes will be gone, and your i-drive will be as new.

If the howl varies in amplitude but not pitch, that would steer me away from any drive or aerodynamic related cause unless the sound was apparent in only a narrow range of speed or RPMs.

I would look for something electronic, but that is way beyond my highly limited expertise.

The Sound only comes on between 130km/h and 140km/h and is not RPM related. I think the tires are at fault here. I will try to get BMW to swap rim and tires with another 5 series for one test drive. If that fails, I will start taping up air ducts - one by one with duct tape and hoping the sound will go away.
