Dear all, my E61 2005 under recent heat wave condition in the uk, the climate control does not blow cold air constantly. it starts blowing cold air every morning, after runing for about 5 mins, it cuts out and i can then smell the air conditioning being turned off. because it has the un-dry clothes smell. i wonder anyone has the same problem.
i have been searching articles about this problem. it seems to be a pressure valve fail more than the compressor fail. can anyone help? can anyone identify the pressure valve location or what it looks like. because i want to change it myself and see if it fix the problem. apparently this is a common fault?!?!?!?

That is a symptom of an AC system that is low on Freon. Does this happen when you push the Max AC button or when you use the normal AC settings?

hi, i had it refilled about 3 weeks ago. it happens on both settings. when it does blowing cold, it is really cold.. i could also hear the compressor kicks in but wont hold for long. that is why i think is the pressure valve playing up.. any idea?

Has it done it right from the refill - might be worth taking it back asking them to compare the pressures.

Mine is now turning off the Max AC setting after 5-10 minutes; not sure if it's because of low Freon, the evaporater temp sensor reaching its lowest allowable level or ??? Normal AC seems to keep working.

Hi all.

I'm a new member here, and I just bought and '06 530xiT. I have same symptons with the climate control: It will start blowing very cold air from all vents, but after the cabin temp is down, it will continue blowing cold / chilled air from the center vents, but the window vents will start blowing really warm air.

I currently live in Southern California where the climate is warm and dry, so I can't think, that the warm air on the windows is some kind of de-fogging of the window.

The automatic control of the fan seems to work fine, and as mentioned, the air stream can get really cold.

Curious to hear from others....

Br, T
