Is it true that re-mapping a diesel with a new chip will result in a loss of engine refinement?

Just done my 530xd re-map at evolve automotive in Luton UK, and car is absolutely transformed. Absolutely no regret having done it. Yet no chip exchange. they just reprogram ECu through OBD port.
6 minutes to upload new program (after backup of original one) ...et voila.
On performance , acceleartion come earlier and stronger...and in normal driving consumption is 10 to 15% lower! (I guess t pay for the tires lifetime that will certainly look shorter )
