Cargo cover stuck in open position 2010 E61

Cargo cover stuck in open position 2010 E61

I hope you guys can help me with an issue with the automatic cargo cover on my 2010 530D xDrive.
When picking up my summer tires from my dealer, I loaded them into the back of my wagon. When closing the tailgate, the automatic cargo cover closed, but hit the tires, and popped up again. Now the cover is stuck in the up position, and won’t budge. The motors are running, and if I am quick about it, I can pull the cover somewhat down when open the tailgate window (When the motors are sliding to the up position) but then the motors just push the cover back up.
Is there any security mechanism to prevent the cargo cover to hit the cargo? Anyone known how to reset this?
I appreciate any help on this issue

I had exactly same thing with my 520D few months ago. I did some googling and found nice photos showing how the system works:

Fixing it was rather easy, I managed to get it working in about 15 minutes. This is what I did: In the back wall of trunk, left side, there is a small gearbox operated by an electric motor. Without dismantling anything else I opened all screws holding the gearbox cover. After opening the cover it was possible to manually adjust the operating 'springs' on both sides to the position they would normally be when the cover is closed. After putting the gearbox cover back and tightening the screws the cover started to work like always before.
I think the security is done by just monitoring the current the operating motor is drawing. That does not seem to work perfectly, probably the gear wheel has slipped and let those operating wires to false positions.

Thank youfor your feedback. Any sign of the spring coming to Finland yet?
I managed to solve this problem with my cargo cover: With the tailgate closed, I folded down the back seats and crawled back to the tailgate via the rear door. I grabbed the rod that runs through the end of the cover (the one that’s in the tracks)and just swung it out of its track. It was than loose and could roll back in to its cassette. Then I could just open the tailgate and insert the rod into the tracks again. It now work perfectly
