Hi,

I'm planning on buying a second hand E61 soon and I was hoping someone could help me with the following:

Does the E61 have a chain or a rubber belt as a cambelt? I know a chain normally doesn't need replacement whereas a the belt normally requires change in a car every 120K kilometers?
As this is normally a costly operation it would be good to know if it isn't required.
Thanks for confirming

BMW's haven't had cam belts for quite a few years (12-15).

thanks!
Didn't know that. Have been an Alfa man (166) till now. Problem is that they don't do estates nor are they replacing the 166 anytime soon so I'm taking this opportunity to give the BMW a go.

Cheers!
