washing car today and noticed a bulge in tyre goodyear nct5 runflat on passenger side had the same issue in october but on driver side
had to change tyre and lower suspension arm that time because ball joint had excessive wear this is the second tyre in 5 months
both tyres had approx 5 mm of tread on them so not exactly worn out anybody else had these issues
rear tyres are almost wore out so i am going to replace all 4 with non runflats any recommends on 245/40/18 all round
ie make or possible size change running on bit of a budget at the moment
thanks in advance

I had the same today.

Went to replay one tyre after 29K and the other rear which had done less than 10 had a bulge... The profiles ae so low I must have hit a pot hold and good bye tyre... The fitter showed me the inside of the tyre which was had a large split on the inside...... ?400 later two new tyres.

Had to change all four of my tyres a fortnight ago.
tyre pressure warning light came on after a high speed run to Birmingham & Back. I checked the tyre pressures on all of the wheels and they were fine.. Visualy checked the tread and had 4mm all way round.
Reset the tyre monitoring system drove into Town (5miles) & on it came again.Took the Car into KwikFit and they checked the pressures and they were OK then checked the Tread that was Fine then decided to take one of the front wheels off and check the inside Rim..
To Say that both the Fitter & myself were both Horrified by what we found was an Understatement!!!!
Both Tyres on the Front Had Almost Completely Delaminated to the stage where I could put my Hand in all the way around the Tyres Carcass.
You Could Not See any of this from looking and would not have been able to tell without taking the wheels off..There had been no difference in the handling of the car at all.. The fitter said that if the tyres hadn,t had a reinforced tyre wall and were just normal tyres then we would probably been knocking on Heavens Door..
Both of These Tyres Were Good Year Nct5..
Because I was so Shocked My Wife Decided we were having Four New Tyres ( Bridgstone Potenzas ) although the two on the back still had 4mm and showed no problem she wasnt taking any chances.
Total Cost of the four tyres inc balancing & disposal of the old Tyres ?500. After some hard Negotiating from the wife...
Not Trusting to Visual Inspection and getting a professional to check them PRICELESS

As a matter of Interest can you put non runflats on rims that are designed for them??

General consensus is yes; RFT rims are designed to take RFT tires but they can also be fitted with non RFT's. This is done a lot.
