Brake rotors oem vs cross drilled

So the time has come to do my first brakes and rotor change and I'm decided on which direction to go. I've been doing some digging and most of it seems opinion based but I figured I would see what you guys think is the better route. I've read that the cross drilled is kind of a waste of money as the seem to breakdown and warp pretty fast compared to the factory oem setup. Not sure a out that but that's what I've read. The other question is do the rotors from a 550i fit on an e61 xdrive? If so I was think this route might be a direction to go in as well. Thoughts?

I'm pretty sure there's a thread or two on here that says fronts can be swapped, but you'd need the calipers as well.
Personally, I'm doing G11 front calipers and Zimmerman coated blanks for mine, but I'm RWD swapped which may or may not be an issue for AWD.

Very nice, why go with the blanks? Do they bolt right up or do you need custom brackets for that setup? Not to sure if it would be an issue for xdrive, but quite possibly could be just because of the weight differences front front to rear.

Just 5mm spacer for top and bottom bolt aka two 2.5mm washers. You can order a large pack from Amazon, just take out your caliper as they're not all exactly 2.5mm. There's a YouTube video of a guy in the UK who did it to his M5 sedan, VYS Garage.

Tbh, cost haha. I'm also just not a fan of drilled. Slotted, yes, as they look amazing, but I was only seeing blanks and drilled, so blanks won.

all front brakes are swappable. the 545/550/rwd 535 are a good bolt on upgrade on the front; you will need calipers/brackets/clips as well as matching pads and rotors.
Also black rotors are the best options; you will never see the heat range needed for drilled/slotted rotors for your street/enthusiast driving. All you do is take away pad contact surface and introduce areas for rust/corrosion to start to build up. That being said some factory options have aluminum hat rotors and that reduces rotational & unsprung weight; Which is a great upgrade all around.
