Battery draining over night 530d e61
Hi all,
The Missis got in the other morning and it was dead.
I have a good battery and the alternator is pumping plenty of juice.
Noticed a fault before this happened: the rear tailgate glass will pop open on its own when I start the engine.
Heard stories of a possible Intelligent battery sensor, or, something to do with a battery cover causing it.
Help would be appreciated as er indoors can't get round supermarket!
Cheers all

When the tailgate glass pops open on starting the car, the switch of the glass part is broken.
The contact remains open and prevents the car from going to "sleep" and drains battery.
Easy and cheap fix (around €20) at the dealer. Nothing to worry! :-)

I have a similar battery drain problem, but no rear glass popping. I do, however, have a broken wire to the defroster (had a weak 2.3V signal, now it's zero). I also have a wiring short with the DRL angel eye lights. I have them turned off.
BMW dealer told me neither of these things is covered under CPO warranty, so I'll have to fix it myself. That all said, if the DRL's are switched off in the menu, and the defroster isn't engaged at the switch, would that still be preventing the car from going into 'sleep' mode?
As an example of the 'drain' levels, I can charge the battery to 100% (in the warm garage), then drive the car about 15 miles (in about 0 deg F weather), park it for a couple hours, then drive back home, and the battery is down to 65%. The battery was replaced nine months ago (with a new $300 BMW OEM battery).
Any guesses or similar experiences with a situation like this? Thanks in advance...
