There seems to be a strange logic in this: Three weeks use - car to the garage for two weeks - three weeks use... and guess what?

While driving in Malm? I couldn't believe it when the engine again started to "misfire" on low revs. At least this this BMW Assistance did a swift, professional job and I had a new (20 kms in the clock) 320iA Touring within an hour. They only had a E60 523iA but as I need a touring I said I didn't mind an E91, especially as it's brand new.

Cheers up !
My E60 is just back for service as the idrive keeps messing around !!
And I also got an E90 320d as a loaner... Oh boy, just using an E90 makes me even more eager to find my E60 back ! Just not the same car (although the engine is the same)...
Hope things will get well for you !

Talked to the garage this morning (they've actually phoned me every day - very nice! I suppose it's some kind of mitigation to the Great Problem with the 5-series engines...?). Anyway, there's a Big problem with my car. They have to change something I'm nbot sure what's in English. In Swedish it's called "styrbox" so if anyone of you guys from Scandinavia could help me with this one? ECU?

It's the main electronic box for the car, the "computer" sort of, so the garage was very apologetic as this needs to be a delivery from Germany. Another 3-4 days with the E91 320i... Nice colour though; Sparkling graphite.

Hi Narvselius!

"Styrbox" would probably translate quite well into "Steuereinheit" in German (I had this replaced on my ooooold 530d several times...) - it's more or less the central "computer", so to speak the "pacemaker" of your ride that is the central driving unit of all your electrical/digital systems nowadays... As stated elsewhere, I had a Volkswagen Phaeton before, and exactly this part had been replaced there too several times - that's usually what they do when a software upgrade doesn't show promising results anmyore... ;-) Good thing is that like with cardiac pacemakers things are so much integrated today that this usually fixes intermittant issues, bit of kind of "magic" since it's "just" hardware... Keep the fingers crossed - please keep us posted if this did the job!

Best,
Bertel

You won't believe this: The loaner I recieved, a E91 320iA with the new direct injection system.... malfunctions! Driving with the cruise control on I could feel some irregular "jerks" and said "Oh, not again..."

So, I drove back to Sixt and got a 320d. Always nice to check the car fleet of the rental company, but I didn't imagine this when I bought my first 5-series and my third new BMW...

It makes the old days with Alfa Romeos like a walk in the park.
