Let us know what you think of the S6 v. 535xi after you get some seat time.

Funny that it was Audi vs BMW again. When I did this last time it was between the e39 540 wagon and the S6. Similar cars in a way but the Audi is just massively bigger and at the time could be had at deep discounts. The car has a massive spec sheet... 340hp at 7000rpm? 2 limited slip differentials? 255 tires all around. Grips like no car weighing 4000 has a right to.

Now Audi is not bringing S6 wagons in the US anymore (big mistake in my opinion for Audi to not continue what set them apart in the first place, their coolest cars were wagons) and the A6 avant is just too boring of a car to consider.

I flirted with the A4 Avant which although very down on power drove very well. I might have gone for it but the boot was just too small...barely bigger than a sedan really.

So it was the 535 almost by default. The car rides beautifully with none of the crashiness so typical of older Audis.
I was never a fan of the e60 styling but in the Wagon it seems to work better.

I did not order the M aero kit, I figured that would be less expensive to install later at a good shop rather than the dealer.

Of the Audi? the S6 was first rate for its time. The Nav is a bit of a joke with no map but In reality it worked better and is faster than the one on the 01 e39 I used to have before.

For the new cars I thought the A4 interior is first rate for its class. The electronics very good (though the latest BMW iDrive with HD rather than DVD will blow it away...5s don't get it sadly). Though I did think the leather they use feel more like plastic than leather...must wear well

here is the Battleship

Congrats on your new car!

Too bad you ordered the Xi i.o. the rear wheel version. Specially when you name yourself 'oversteer'

HAHA...yeah, well they don't sell it any other way here in the US and this is the kid/dogs carrier anyway, Luckily I have something else in the garage to take care of any hooliganistic tendencies that might come up!
