When I use the button in the footwell, the tailgate opens fine however when I use the button on the key, I can't quite get the hang of it. Sometimes the lid will release but not fully open unless I push the button a second time. If the cover is closed, it will open too but if I hold it too long, the alarm goes off. The dealer said I need to hold it for a few seconds hoever I don't know why it's not fully opening after releasing.

Thoughts?

i have the same problem. i couldnt get used to using the key fob, even though my friends who just try it once are able to do it. i pretty much said "screw it" and have always used that little button in the footwell or have just unlocked everything and opened it manually.

Erm, guys, that SHOULDN'T be happening.

On mine, you just press the button once and the tailgate opens.

Mind you, mine's an old-tech pre-LCI model - it's probably steam-powered...

Fancy BMW terminology for post-facelift model.

Don't worry, I had to ask too...
