August 19th recall
I’ve just checked online purely out of interest & by chance my car (2005 E61 535d) has an outstanding recall from August 19th this year, so only from a few days ago.
I’ve done a quick google but can’t see anything confirming what it is 100%, but I think it may be something to do with a battery connector
And my second question - my car was modified by the previous owner & is remapped with changes to the exhaust system etc, providing the recall isn’t exhaust related would this be a problem or anything they’re likely to report on or turn me away for?
If no one knows I’ll be phoning in the next couple days anyway so I’ll update what it is then.
I don’t know a lot about recalls but I’m in the UK if they differ country to country.

I didn’t click the link but I am sure it’s legit, it’s on our government website & no one sent me the link - I was checking just out of interest. Also if I go onto my local BMW dealerships website & enter my reg for a service they advise there’s an outstanding recall also.
I’ll call them up today and see what’s what!

Reason why you have an active recall is because your car hasn't had it's positive cable connection checked by officials. There are many E61s which have burned down because of that exact issue, so the sooner you let a dealer check it, the better. I doubt dealers are going to be performing basically an MOT check during a recall, that takes time and money, which is what BMW want to take less off since it's going out of their pockets.

Ok, that makes sense. I'll phone up my local dealer & get it booked in. I'm sure you're right, after all if it's safety related & nothing to do with any modified bits what does it matter to them. Thanks.
